AMCP Foundation/Pfizer, Inc. Oncology Internship
The Pfizer Inc., Oncology Organized Customer Field Medical Team, in partnership with AMCP Foundation, will support the new AMCP Foundation/Pfizer, Inc. Oncology Internship Program. Its goal is to develop future leaders in managed health care through activities that expose interns to population health and the application of managed care pharmacy principles via concepts such as formulary management, benefit design, medication therapy management, and adherence management focusing on oncology.
Working directly with pharmacists and other health care team members in oncology, specialty pharmacy, or related business units, interns will appreciate how managed care pharmacy principles maximize health care resources and patient care outcomes. Two student pharmacists will be selected for the internship through a nationwide selection process.
During the 10-week program, each intern will be assigned to a health plan, pharmacy benefit management company, specialty pharmacy, or other sites. In addition, interns will be matched with virtual preceptors and present capstone research projects at AMCP Nexus. This immersive experience will round out their introduction to the managed care pharmacy profession and transform their career plan.
- Interns may also may spend time at a Pfizer location in the U.S.
- The program will cover approved expenses. Interns will also receive a modest stipend.
Interns must be enrolled as full-time Doctor of Pharmacy degree students in an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy during the 2023–2024 school year with anticipated graduation in 2025 or 2026. They must be eligible for employment in the United States.
