AMCP Foundation/AbbVie Inc. Specialized Summer Internship Program in Health Outcomes
AbbVie, Inc., in partnership with the AMCP Foundation, supports the AbbVie Inc. Specialized Summer Internship Program in Health Outcomes for two student pharmacists. The program’s goal is to stimulate student pharmacists' interest in career options in health outcomes and pharmacoeconomics through exposure to research, measurement, and applications to evidence-based decision-making. In addition, the interns will gain knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, managed health care systems, a public charity with AMCP Foundation, and a professional membership society with AMCP.
Two selected student pharmacists will spend 10-weeks with AbbVie's Global Health Economic and Outcomes Research Department under the virtual supervision of pharmacist preceptors and will complete a health outcomes-related project. Interns will complete a research project under the supervision of a virtual preceptor from the AbbVie Global HEOR Department. Interns will present their findings in poster presentations at AMCP Nexus in person. Interns are also matched with virtual preceptors for additional mentoring.
The program will cover approved expenses. Interns will also receive a modest stipend.
Interns must be enrolled as full-time Doctor of Pharmacy degree students in an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy during the 2022-2023 school year, with anticipated graduation in 2024 or 2025. They must be eligible for employment in the United States.
