AMCP Foundation/AbbVie, Inc. Specialized Summer Internship Program in Health Outcomes
AbbVie, Inc., in partnership with the AMCP Foundation, supports the AbbVie, Inc. Specialized Summer Internship Program in Health Outcomes for two student pharmacists. The program’s goal is to stimulate student pharmacists' interest in career options in health outcomes and pharmacoeconomics through exposure to research, measurement, and applications to evidence-based decision-making. In addition, the interns will gain knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, managed health care systems, a public charity with AMCP Foundation, and a professional membership society with AMCP.
Internship Details
Two selected student pharmacists will spend nine weeks at the AbbVie's Global Health Economic and Outcomes Research Department in Irvine, Ca., under the supervision of pharmacist preceptors and will complete a health outcomes-related project. Interns will complete a research project under the supervision of an on-site preceptor from the AbbVie Global HEOR Department. Interns will present their findings in poster presentations at AMCP Nexus.
Interns are also matched with virtual preceptors for additional mentoring. In addition, interns will spend up to one week at AMCP/Foundation headquarters.
The program will cover approved expenses. Interns will also receive a modest stipend.
Internship Requirements
Interns must be enrolled as a full-time Doctor of Pharmacy degree student in an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy during the 2021-2022 school year, with anticipated graduation in 2023 or 2024. They must be eligible for employment in the United States.
Candidates must submit an online application, two letters of recommendation and a letter of good academic standing from their institution.
