Dr. Tran is the Vice President, Part D Product, Analytics, & Innovation at UnitedHealthcare where she is responsible for the strategy and development of the Medicare Part D plans as well as overseeing the data analytics pharmacy support for Government Programs. She has been with UnitedHealth Group for 11 years as of 2023, and has served various roles across the enterprise including leading pharmacy program development at UHG Research and Development, spearheading the development of innovative drug payment models including outcomes-based contracts for the UnitedHealthcare commercial business and other leadership roles on the Optum Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) team and Clinical Outcomes Research at OptumRx. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, she worked as a Pharmacoeconomics Specialist and Medication Safety Officer at the Department of Veterans Affairs where she performed formulary operations and research to support the formulary decision making process. She earned her Pharmacy degree, Masters in Pharmaceutical Economics and Policy, and Certificate of Gerontology from the University of Southern California. She also completed a post-doctoral HEOR fellowship with Amylin Pharmaceuticals in partnership with the University of Southern California and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Tran has presented her research at national and international conferences and has authored or co-authored 40+ publications.
Josephine is a 2007 AMCP Foundation and Pfizer Managed Care Intern who was previously featured in our intern alumni spotlight series. She is a top reviewer for the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy and a past member of AMCP’s Student Pharmacist Committee.
